Each year the Foundation awards approximately 150 grants totaling $1.8 million across two program areas:

Prior to applying for funding, we recommend that you review the following general eligibility criteria and program area descriptions.

IRS Tax-Exempt Status

The Richard E. and Nancy P. Marriott Foundation supports nonprofit organizations with tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, that are organized and operated for charitable purposes.

Geographic Location

The Richard E. and Nancy P. Marriott Foundation funds nonprofit organizations that serve the Washington D.C. metropolitan region, with a particular emphasis on organizations serving people and communities in Washington, D.C. The Foundation also funds organizations serving communities in Montgomery County, Maryland, Utah and New Hampshire.

What We Do Not Fund

• Individuals, outside of our scholarship program
• Government agencies
• For-profit business
• Special events or conferences
