Privacy Policy & Terms of Use

This website (remnpmfoundation.org) (the “Site”) is owned and operated by The Richard E. and Nancy P.Marriott Foundation (“the Foundation”). The Foundation respects the privacy of visitors to its Site. This statement (the “Policy”) discloses the Foundation’s privacy practices regarding information that we collect from visitors to this Site, and explains how that information is used.

This Policy also provides the other “terms of use” of this Site. Your use of this Site indicates to us that you have read and accept both our privacy practices and the terms of use. DO NOT USE THIS SITE OR PROVIDE INFORMATION TO THE FOUNDATION IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS PRIVACY POLICY AND THE TERMS OF USE.

Information We Collect: We collect two types of information from visitors to this Site: Personally Identifiable Information and Non-personally Identifiable information. Personally Identifiable information is information that can identify you as an individual. Non-personally Identifiable information is information such as your computer’s IP address and information presented in summary or statistical form that does not readily reveal an individual’s identity.

Personally Identifiable Information: It is always your choice whether to provide personal information, and aside from the Scholarship application very few uses of this Site require that you provide this type of information. In those circumstances in which we do require personal information (e.g., you are a grantee of the Foundation or a scholarship applicant or recommender), your decision not to provide it may limit the functionality of this Site.

Personal information you provide will not be forwarded, traded, or sold to outside organizations. You acknowledge and agree, however, that, under the following circumstances, we may disclose personal information you have provided: (i) if you consent to disclosure, (ii) if it is necessary to process your application for a scholarship (iii) if the law requires, (iv) if we believe that disclosure is necessary or reasonable to comply with court orders or subpoenas, investigations by law enforcement or regulatory authorities or other legal process, (v) to enforce applicable terms and conditions of this website, or (vi) in urgent circumstances, to protect the safety of persons or property, or (vii) in the event of a reorganization of the Foundation.

Cookies: We collect some information automatically from visitors to the Site through tracking mechanisms such as “cookies,” “web beacons” and similar technology. We collect information such as your domain name and host for web access, the internet address of the site from which you came, your computer’s IP address and information about its operating system, date and time of your access, and the pages you visit. “Cookie” technology is used by the Foundation to improve the Site and to deliver a better and more personalized experience. Cookies are small files issued by the website and stored on your computer’s hard drive to provide us with information about your general use of the Internet. Personal information (such as a user’s identity) is not stored in cookie format and cannot be accessed by looking at a user’s cookies. If you do not wish to receive cookies, you may activate the appropriate setting on your Web browser. However, if you select this setting you may be unable to access certain parts of this Site’s services and features. We may also use web beacons from third parties to assist us in compiling aggregated statistics about the operation of our Site.

Data Security: We take reasonable steps to protect the security of the personally identifiable information received from our users from unauthorized use or disclosure.

Protecting Children’s Privacy: Protecting the privacy of children is important to us. For that reason we will not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Do not provide personal information if you are under the age of 13, and please caution your children not to provide any. In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, we will promptly remove any information in our database from users that we believe are under the age of 13.

External Links: This Site may contain links to third-party sites for educational purposes. A link should not be construed as our endorsement of that site. We are not responsible for the availability, content, or privacy practices of any third-party site. We encourage our users to read the privacy statement of every website that collects personally identifiable information. We have no control over information you provide to third parties.
